Miso-manju has been loved by locals of not only Numata but also Gunma prefecture for a long time. Thin plain buns are skewered, placed over charcoal fire, spread with sweet miso sauce, and roasted. The roasted miso flavor is mouth-watering. It is also called Yaki-manju (roasted steamed bun) in southern Gunma. Miso-manju with sweet red bean paste filling is also very popular in Numata.
